The happiness returns to Enheduanna when one of her relatives interceded in her banishment. It is reported that someone in her family tree took over the role of ruler of the Akkadian Empire that her father Sargon had established. This allowed her to find restoration to her life's work and vocation.
In The Exaltation of Innana, she is elated to return to her work and she thanks her beloved Goddess. This part of the hymn is presented by Roberta Binkley in Enheduanna, Daughter of King Sargon: Princess, Poet, Priestess.
The Restoration of Enheduanna to Her Former Station
"The first lady of the throne room
Has accepted Enheduanna's song.
Inanna loves her again.
The day was good for Enheduanna, for she was dressed
In jewels.
She was dressed in womanly beauty.
Like the moon's first rays over the horizon,
How luxuriously she was dressed!
When Nanna, Inanna's father,
Made his entrance
The palace blessed Inanna's mother Ningal.
From the doorsill of heaven came the word:
'Welcome.'"
Once her power was restored, Enheduanna maintain her cherished role until the end of her life.
